Websites for
plumbers.
When someone's boiler dies at 7am, they search, they judge, they call.
What most plumber websites get wrong.
-
They search.
“Emergency plumber near me.” You’re one name on a list, next to plumbers with the same stars as you.
- No page for the job they searched for
- No page for the town they’re in
-
They judge.
They tap your site and give it a few seconds. That’s all you get.
- No number to ring at the top
- No reviews, nothing that says Gas Safe
-
They call someone else.
The plumber whose site made it easy. One thumb on “back” and the job’s gone.
- “No job too small” doesn’t say you fix boilers
- Nothing to say anyone will pick up right now
This is what a good plumber website looks like.
A whole demo site for a made-up plumber. We’ll build you one like it, with your name, your photos and your reviews, so more of the people who find you pick up the phone. Put your name on it and click around like a customer would.
Carver Plumbing & Heating is a made-up business. Your site gets your name, your photos and your reviews.
Five things it does that most plumber sites don’t.
-
01
Emergency customers decide in seconds.
One tap to ring, from anywhere on the page.
The call button follows them down the screen. A live “Open now” status tells them someone will actually pick up.
-
02
Your reviews are buried on Google.
Proof before they’ve scrolled.
Your star rating and Gas Safe registration sit in the first screen, with your Google reviews further down where people are deciding.
-
03
“No job too small” tells people nothing.
A page for every job you do.
Boiler repairs, bathrooms, landlord certificates. Each gets its own page with photos, prices and how long it takes, so you show up for the job someone searched for.
-
04
People search for the job, then the town.
A page for every town you cover.
“Boiler repair Ramsgate” is a search almost nobody bothers to answer. A page for each town you cover gives Google a reason to show you for it.
-
05
A name and a number isn’t much to quote from.
Quotes that arrive ready to price.
Three quick questions: the job, the postcode, a photo. You ring back already knowing what you’re walking into.

What a plumber website needs to do
Web design for plumbers isn’t a matter of taste. Most of your visitors are on a phone. Many have water coming through a ceiling. They’ll give your site about five seconds. A good plumber website answers three questions in that time. Do you do this job? Can you come soon? Can I trust you in my house? Everything below exists to answer one of them.
A phone number that never leaves the screen
The click-to-call button follows the visitor down the page. WhatsApp sits next to it for the customer who’d rather send a photo of the leak. Nobody should hunt for a number. Nobody should land on a contact form when the boiler has just died.
An emergency strip that answers the first question
“Are you available now?” is what an emergency customer wants to know. A slim strip at the top gives your response time, hours and coverage area. If you don’t do emergencies, the strip says that too, so the planned-work customer still knows where they stand.
Gas Safe, shown properly
Anyone working on gas appliances in the UK has to be on the Gas Safe Register. Homeowners are told to check. Your registration number belongs on the site where people can see it, alongside any manufacturer accreditations, WaterSafe or TrustMark membership. Most plumbing websites bury this in the footer or leave it off.
Reviews where they get read
Your Google reviews are probably the best sales copy you have. We pull them onto the homepage and service pages. They update themselves, and they’re seen at the moment someone is deciding.
Photos of your own work
Stock photos of a smiling plumber holding a wrench fool nobody. Your own van, a tidy cylinder cupboard, a finished bathroom. Real photos make you look like a real business, because you are one.
Fast on a phone
Emergency searches happen on mobile data, often in a hurry. Every plumber website we build is made to load quickly on a phone first, with nothing to pinch, zoom or wait for.
Plumber website examples
The demo near the top of this page is a typical example. The call button follows you down the screen. The Gas Safe badge and the reviews sit where the eye lands first. Every service and every town has its own page.
When you look at the best plumbing websites, the pattern is the same every time. Services are named, not hinted at. The coverage area is clear. Proof sits above the fold. There’s one obvious way to get in touch on every page.
You can also open the demo plumbing website full screen and click around it. It’s a made-up business with a page for every service and every town it covers, built exactly the way we’d build yours.
The most useful example is your own, though. Tell us about the business and we’ll build your homepage free, using your own name, services and reviews. You’ll see it within 48 hours, before you’ve paid anything.
Service pages for plumbing and heating businesses
Every service you offer gets its own page, so you turn up for the job a customer is searching for, not just the word “plumber”. A typical plumbing and heating site might have pages for:
- Boiler installation. The big-ticket job, and the one most often compared. Brands you fit, warranties and finance options if you offer them.
- Boiler repair and breakdowns. Fault codes people search for, how quickly you can get there and whether you carry parts.
- Boiler servicing. Repeat work that keeps the warranty valid. Easy to book online.
- Landlord gas safety certificates. CP12 records are needed every year, so letting agents and landlords come back. A page that makes booking simple wins the repeat business.
- Bathroom installation. Planned, higher-value work where photos sell the job.
- Leaks, burst pipes and emergency plumbing. The urgent searches, with the phone number front and centre.
- Central heating and power flushing. Radiators, cold spots, sludge and system upgrades.
- Heat pumps and renewables. If you’re qualified, this is where homeowners are starting to look.
You tell us what you actually do. We don’t add pages for work you’d rather not take.
How plumbers get found on Google
People rarely search for “plumber” and leave it there. They search for the job, then the place. “Boiler repair Chelmsford.” “Leaking shower Croydon.” “Landlord gas safety certificate Leeds.” Each of those is a customer who already knows what they need and where they need it.
That’s where a plumbing website wins work. A generic homepage fights every directory and national firm for the word “plumber”. A page about boiler repairs, written for the towns you cover, competes for a search almost nobody else has bothered to answer. Fewer people type it. The ones who do are ready to book.
So every plumber website we build has a page for each service and each area you cover. Proper headings, fast code and the local signals Google reads come as standard. It’s the same structure running on this site, built by people with twenty years of search behind them. We don’t sell it as an SEO extra. It’s simply how a plumbing website should be built.
The map results above the normal listings work differently. They run on your Google Business Profile, reviews and citations. A good website supports them, and when three plumbers show near-identical ratings, the website is usually what breaks the tie. We can help with the map side too, quoted separately. Anyone promising you the top spot by next week is selling something else.
How much does a plumber website cost?
There are four usual routes:
- A freelance web designer. Typically £500 to £1,500 for the build. Hosting, updates and changes then become your problem, or theirs at an hourly rate.
- A web design agency. £1,500 to £4,000 or more for a brochure site, plus meetings and a proposal. Good work, priced for bigger firms than most plumbing businesses.
- A DIY website builder. Cheap on paper, paid for in your evenings. More on that below.
- Kent.design. £79 a month plus VAT with nothing upfront. Design, copy, hosting, security and same-day small edits are included. Every cost is on the pricing page.
For most plumbers the sum is simple. One boiler service or one leak repair a month covers the website. Everything after that is work you weren’t getting.
How to stand out on Checkatrade and Google
Directories like Checkatrade, MyBuilder and Rated People bring in work. Plenty of good plumbers use them, alongside their Google Business Profile. Now look at what the customer sees. A list of plumbers side by side, most of them rated 4.8 or better, all saying roughly the same thing. On that list you’re a name, a photo and a star rating.
What happens next decides the job. The customer opens a few websites to choose between you. This is where you stop being one of five.
Your website is the one place where you talk to the customer directly, with no competitor sitting next to you on the page. It shows your own work and your own reviews. It explains the job the way you would if you were standing in their kitchen. It’s your best salesperson, and it’s done the selling before you’ve picked up the phone.
The listing gets you on the shortlist. The website gets you the call. Two plumbers with the same rating rarely win the same amount of work, because the customer goes with the one who looks the most professional. That’s usually the one with the better website.
The money works differently too. Directories charge per lead or per month, and the customer relationship stays with the platform. Your website belongs to you, and every call it brings in costs nothing extra. Most plumbers who do well online use both, with the website as the home base everything else points to.
Wix, a website builder or done for you?
Wix, Squarespace and GoDaddy all sell ready-made templates. A website builder will get you a site for the price of a takeaway a month. What it won’t do is write your service pages, structure them for search or keep them updated while you’re under someone’s sink. Most DIY plumbing websites end up as one long homepage that hasn’t changed since the day it went live. We’ve done the honest maths on DIY if you want the full comparison.
Plumber web design FAQs
Ours is £79 a month plus VAT, with nothing to pay upfront and a 12-month minimum term. That covers the design, the writing, hosting, security and small edits. Freelancers typically charge £500 to £1,500 for the build and agencies more, before hosting. The detail is on the pricing page.
Yes. We’re based in Broadstairs, Kent, and we build websites for plumbers anywhere in the UK. The whole process runs online, with no meetings needed. If you are local, we have pages for Canterbury, Maidstone, Medway, Ashford and the rest of Kent.
You’ll see your new homepage within 48 hours of telling us about the business. Once you say yes, the full site is usually live in a week or two. Most of that time is us writing your service pages.
Word of mouth still gets checked. When someone is recommended a plumber, the next thing they do is search the name. A decent website turns that recommendation into a call. A missing or tired one makes them ask for a second name.
Yes, probably more than most. A directory puts you on a page next to your competitors, and most customers check a few websites before they ring anyone. Your own site is where you get to make the case on your own, with your work and your reviews. It also catches the people who search your name after seeing you on a directory, without paying for that lead twice.
Yes. Your Gas Safe registration, accreditations and Google reviews go where people will see them, on the homepage and the service pages. Reviews update themselves.
We build the structure Google rewards as standard: a fast site, proper headings and a page for every service and area. Depending on your competition, that’s what earns rankings in the normal results. The map results run on your Google Business Profile, reviews and citations. We can help there too, quoted separately. Nobody honest guarantees rankings.
Yes. Heating engineers, gas engineers, bathroom fitters and drainage firms all need the same things: a clear list of services, proof and an easy way to call. We also build for electricians, builders, roofers and other trades.
